Brief History
Mr. Ji-Ping Dai, the authorized representative of the Chan Pang Kuen Memorial Scholarship, visited Edmonton in February 2018 and met with 25 current and graduated students who had benefited from the scholarship. At the meeting, Mr. Dai conveyed Dr. Charles Chan’s wish that the students do their best to help fellow students from Taishan and give back to society. Students from around the world responded enthusiastically and held the first Annual General Meeting (AGM) in late February, during which they decided to establish the Chan Pang Kuen Memorial Scholarship Society. The purpose was to unite resources and efforts to contribute to the development of education in their hometown. In March 2018, members of the society elected the first Executive Committee. On April 27, 2018, the Government of Alberta approved the society’s application for registration as a non-profit organization, and the society was officially established on that day.
The society is still young, and we are moving forward while exploring the path ahead. We sincerely hope that everyone will remember our intention of contributing to education in our hometown, supporting each other and making progress together!
