Chan Pang Kuen Memorial Scholarship Society – Executive Committee

President: Qiting Chen

As President, Qiting oversees the running of the society and defines annual plans; she is also responsible to coordinate all of the society’s activities. The President will provide support, advice and guidance to the other committee members. In her spare time, she enjoys volunteering and community involvement. Qiting provides information on volunteer opportunities to a group of international students who are studying in Edmonton, aiming to promote volunteering as a way to enrich students’ lives. Qiting likes dogs, cats, and plants.

Vice President – UA Relations: Qi’e Wu

As VP UA (University of Alberta) Relations, Qi’e is the primary contact for current U of A students and eligible Chan Pang Kuen Memorial Scholarship candidates for enquiries ranging from program applications to campus life. As a linguistic student, Qi’e is interested in observing the language phenomena in our life. Her interests range from Child Language Acquisition, Bilingualism, to psycholinguistics. In her spare time, she is involved in various language-related activities, including teaching Cantonese in SVCC (Student Volunteer Campus Club), facilitating ESL activities for Chinese visiting scholars and working as a research assistant in CCP (Center for Comparative Psycholinguistics).

Vice President – Communications: Shanshan Wu

VP Communications is responsible for handling online media, documenting events, and creating promotional materials. Shanshan maintains an official account for the Society on WeChat as a platform to share useful information including study abroad experience, job hunting tips, university survival guide, wellness, and exchange abroad, etc. Shanshan likes being involved in all kinds of community events during her spare time, such as volunteering at primary school and high school as teaching assistant, volunteering at the zoo as holiday ambassador, volunteering at tax clinic as tax reporter, and the list goes on and on. Her favorite hobby is travelling around to experience different cultures and to meet new people. Secretary: Lijuan Zhao

As Secretary, Lijuan attends all meetings of the society and keep accurate minutes and notes. She maintains the list of members, and sends all notices of various meetings to members as required. Lijuan likes music, sports, books and movies. She loves singing, and she also starts to learn ukulele and piano by herself. In her spare time, she will read books, or watch movies at home. Sometimes, she will also go to gym to work out with her friends. She is enthusiastic about community events and volunteer activities, too. During her free time, she devotes herself to various events and enjoys making new friends. She is a girl who is passionate and keeps challenging herself.

Treasurer: Yanna Lin

Treasurer is responsible to know how finance of the Society stands at any point of time. Yanna plans to make good use of the fund, keeps track of all contributions and expenditure accordingly and reports the financial condition to the society members. If there is a financial need, she will organize fundraising events, and seek sponsorship for the Society etc to gain financial support. In her spare time, she likes to read, hiking and participate in volunteer activities. Yanna also likes to travel and see new things.

Vice President – China Relations: Liming Ma

VP China Relations is the liaison for the Society and students/leadership in China. Liming is responsible for communicating with the Institute of Education in Taishan, the principles in both Taishan No.1 High School and Taishan City Pang Kuen School, as well as Chan Pang Kuen Memorial Scholarship representatives in HongKong. All questions from the above will be directed to VP China relations, and then she will compile the questions and see if our society could provide answers or help in any way.
